Protecting the Skies of Pakistan

The **Pakistan Hang Gliding & Paragliding Association (PHPA)** is the official national body dedicated to the safety, growth, and regulation of paragliding across the country.

With a growing community of over 200 pilots, we act as the strategic link between the flying community and national authorities to ensure our airspace remains safe and accessible for all.

"The story of paragliding in Pakistan began in the early 1980s, when the majestic Northern Areas—an uncharted frontier of the sky—became a magnet for global adventurers. These early pioneers were drawn by a lure found nowhere else on earth: the challenge of soaring among the world’s highest peaks.

Pakistan’s own journey into the clouds was sparked by Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah, the nation’s first pilot, who mastered the wings under the guidance of French enthusiasts Patrick and Manu. Following his lead, trailblazers like Jabbar Bhatti, Khawaja Bilal, and Abbas Hussain Naqvi took to the skies, cementing the sport's foundation in our soil.

From the 90s through 2006, the sport grew through the dedicated mentorship of Mr. Pierre and Mariska, whose annual training courses raised a generation of local pilots. While the path has faced hurdles—from security complexities to cultural barriers—the spirit of flight continues to rise. We look forward to a future where these obstacles fade, and paragliding becomes a celebrated national passion."
